Philly's "Top Ten"

As I sit in the Philadelphia airport getting ready to head back home, I wish to share my “Top Ten” List from the AGO National Council Meeting in Philadelphia:

10: Great food (Terminal Market, China Town, Market Street)
9: Great sights (during the Philly national convention in 2002 I didn’t have much time to explore the city; on Saturday night I was able to take in Penn’s Landing and see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall area)
8: The Kimmel Center (you’ve seen the pictures, need I say more??)
7: Honoring John and Marianne Weaver at the Gala Reception held at the Kimmel
6: Approval of Charlotte for the 2015 Regional
5: Hearing about the plans for the Boston 2014 National Convention
4: Being able to proudly report that preparations for the 2013 Region IV convention in Columbia, SC, are going well!
3: Major strides in streamlining National Council . . . watch for a vote to amend by-laws in Nashville
2: Redrawing the lines for the regions—there will only be 7 regions (rather than 9) and no states will be split. Sorry, but our Louisiana friends will soon be joining the region to the west of us L
1: Get even more excited about Nashville in July . . . see you all there!

Day Three of AGO Meetings

Day Three of the AGO National Council meeting is set to begin in a few minutes. A packed day yesterday included discussion of restructuring/streamlining national council, budget, and the AGO mission statement. After the meetings, I spent the evening walking around the area near the hotel. What a neat city -- here's a photo of Penn's Landing:

Day two in Philadelphia!

Just checking in from the National Council meeting in Philly. After a great bacon, egg & cheese bagel from the Terminal Market, I'm ready to sit thru a day of meetings! Yesterday's agenda with the nine Regional Councillors included a discussion of upcoming POE's, 2013 regionals (and the accompanying RCYOs), and possible re-drawing of regional lines. More to come today!

National Council Meeting, Day One

Greetings to the AGO Region IV membership! I left Florida before the light of day this morning to travel to Philadelphia for the spring National Council meeting. We are just about to start a meeting of the Councillors of the Regions. I'll add an update tonight. Hold down the fort for me in the Southeast!
